I would NOT recommend Northland Custom Carpentry in Barnum, MN.
We had our dream home built by them and I must say I’ve been tainted by
the whole experience of dealing with the owner Jerod Clampitt and his
wife. I would consider them to be unprofessional and immature. Almost
one year after moving in I have, numerous undressed problems and
uncompleted items. Beware of their so called 10 year warranty,
repeated promises to address the issues have been broken and they do
not return phone calls. It has been very stressful dealing with Jerod
Clampitt and Northland Custom Carpentry in Barnum, MN.
Here is one example of what it has been like during the building
process: We had just paid Northland Custom Carpentry a $65,000
Draw check. Jerod had assured me that he would be working the next 4
days on the house which was already behind schedule. The day after the
check was cut Jerod was no where to be found. The subcontractors were
trying to do their work but were unable because of no guidance.
Jerod’s voice mail box was full and he did not return previous
messages. So my wife and I spent the next 3 days on the job trying to
do the contractors job so work could proceed. We stopped payment on
the $65,000 bank check. When Jerod was finally tracked down it was
found that he had left town and was at a water park with his family.
He had told no one of his intentions to take a vacation. I could
relate more examples of what its been like dealing with Northland
Custom Carpentry but I think you get the idea. Thanks for letting me
vent my frustration.

Avoid at all costs the duo of Conny Pedneau and Dean Strickland- doing business as: Big America or All Wood Cabinetry.
They have intentionally defrauded several people in Verde Valley, AZ by building shoddy homes as cheaply as possible and then taking their cut. They keep their money overseas and claim "they can't be touched." Their mode of business is to go into a town and build a couple of good houses to build up clients and then build a group of houses as poorly as possible, betting that you won't have the money after they rob you blind to hire a lawyer and come after them.
Apparently they have also worked in CA and NV. They are still currently working and building in Arizona.

I had hired Craftsman Construction & Homes, LLC.from Beaverton Oregon 2-07, they started remodeling my kitchen. They were supposed to use a melamine surface on the interior of the cabinets instead they tried to save themselves some money and ordered vinyl to be put onto the interior of the cabinets. The vinyl was already peeling off (sticker quality) when the cabinets were delivered to our house. Also electrician wired the panel box wrong and left us without electricity for awhile which we had to fix ourselves since the contractor walked off the job when we wouldn't accept the cabinets. After arbitration and the CCB we are stuck with the cabinets in our garage and having to pay for them. Bad quality of work, bad communication, and the contractor Chris Pete had stole from us, and his workers broke some of our valuables.

My experience with

Henry Fontaine
33 Fletcher Street
Sudbury Massachusetts

(The contractor) is mixed. While I will give him kudos for the framing portion of the construction, I am not all happy with him after this point.

He was on the ‘Recommended List’ from the architect. I have told it was best to remove him from the list to spare anyone else the pain.

I believe the problem lies in the fact that The Contractor is more concerned with getting his money from the bank then getting us back into our home. The project past the point of the framing inspection as crept at a snails pace. Everything was going very quickly until this point we were very happy. However our bank was not. The Contactor was extremely belligerent with bank employees to a point employees had to just hang up on him. This seemed to be very unprofessional to me. I know that contractors tend to be hot-heads but this is way over the limit; All because his money from the Bank was a few days late. While the contractor states he has 20 years experience he seems to get very flustered over money issues. The contractor was ok with us – never belligerent.

Moved out 30 Aug. 2007

After the faming was done we had an inspection – we failed. Not because of the contractor but existing conditions. After the inspection the project can to almost complete halt. Nothing was done on the interior for three weeks except for the stairs – which took four days. Once we got a dispute on insulation figured out he finally got the house insulated, blue boarded and skimmed (three days ish of work) – back on track.

Wanted to fire him at this point saw a layer, I was told because the contract was lousy goosy – no end date, that there would not be any clear cut winners. The judge would probly give split decision; He could sue for loss of income etc…

October 12 Painting

November 19 Floors

Dec 3 2007
Once the floors were in and the cabinets were being put in we have come to another slow down and he can’t tell us when we can get back into the house. Again is super occupied with money.
The painting is going very slow – basically a one man crew.
The cabinet installs – a one man crew
Siding – one man crew
Garage windows – one man crew

7 December 2007

We are told that the house will be ready next Friday.

10 December 2007

I got a list of needed lights that the electrician needed to complete the job. I dragged the kids to Home Depot to get them. I got the stuff

12 December 2007

The electrician told me I bought the wrong stuff – another trip to Home Depot/
Cancelled the movers for Saturday

13 December 2007

The range hood has been installed at the house the contractor found a problem though. Because the stairs required a small jog in the wall in just behind the hood the cover will not fit.

- I left a message with the contractor not to worry about it – since it was not included in the project any way so he is not responsible. Also, I told him I thought that we should be able to move in. I got pissed. Saying he will just leave the job and told me that he was ‘Sick of me’. I told him just to ‘please finish’.
- The contractor got a quote to box in the duct work for the hood – 1000.00 – we said no way.
- The house will not be ready – of course , maybe someday
- So why did I have to run to Home Depot to get the lights when he knows that he was not going to finish until next week

I think the contractor is moving so slow because he wants us to exert pressure on the bank to pay him. Even thought we have no control over them.

Summary

Personality Traits
- Poor Interpersonal skill
- Any time you just slightly critical he just explodes
- Swears at the bank when late by a few days with payment. So much so
that bank employees had to hang up on him.
Workmanship
- All the work he has done has been great.

Project Management
- He usually only has a crew of one person working at a time (seems to be his right hand man). One guy did all of the siding, roofing, windows in the garage, doors in the garage, doors in the house. It would be much faster with more then one person. I do not understand why he can’t get more then one person on the job. There were times when the hose just sat empty and nothing was being done.

Suggestions
Before signing the proposal see a layer – it will be so worth it.

I would never ever recommend The Contractor to any one for whatever reason. He is very unprofessional and unconcerned with our needs and more with his own (money).

I have had an awful experience with Thad Fuller owner of Central America Inc. in Lead, SD. I bought a house built by him a year after my husband. I was foolish enough to tell him that I really needed to get settled and try to put my life back together. I also told him that I had never had to deal with contractors before. I thought he would be fair and honest with me as my husband tought him in high school and I knew his family. I asked him to drill bolt holes in a couple doors-he charged me $460. When I protested he said I could move out. I had him move a light fixture about 2 inches; $148. He asked if I wanted "cheap tile" on a plant shelf (it can't be seen)$128. This summer I asked him if I could use some large rocks rocks for landscaping. His crew was building another townhouse next door at the time. He said "sure, just tell the guys what rocks you want and where to put them." The next week I got a bill for $80. I am mostly angry that he took advantage of me when I was so vulnerable.

I purchased a home that was part of an estate that had water damage because of a pipe bursting in the attic. The damage was great,3 floors needed the hard wood floors redone, new drywall on the bottom floor. First General Services of Western MD, Randy George is the contact person, was hired to restore the home. They are a recommended contractor by State Farm Ins. First general Services advertise that all their work is done by professionals. They gave a 5 year warranty on all the work on the dwelling. 2 weeks after moving in the paint was peeling off the doors, windows and trim. Get this, The so called professional painters used flat paint over oil based enameled paint without primmer or preparing the surface. Any one can tell you that will not stick and it is peeling off in sheets. They also painted the hinges, door knobs, window hardware, thermostats, light switches. The entire job by them was very bad. They charged the ins company for things that they did not do. I paid more for the home based on the so called quality work done by First General Services. What they did to the home devalued it.I have filed a complaint with the BBB, The Attorney General , our State Senator Robert Byrd and many other places. I have reported them for fraud to the National Ins Fraud hot line.I have contacted Randy George many times to try to get some thing done, so far they refuse to take responsibility for it. Randy George says the warranty does not go with the house, just the estate owners. I say it is the same as selling a car with warranty left on it, the warranty goes with the car. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.

I'm writing this post to warn people from making the same mistake me and my husband has made. My husband spent 22 years in the military. We got married in 1988 ,when I was 18 and we were sent straight to Germany. We went from Germany, to Texas, to
Louisville Ky ,to North Carolina, to Tacoma WA, and our last stop before retiring being Tennessee. Between those stops, My husband spent a year in Korea and was sent twice to Iraq. I was pregnate with twins during the second tour of Iraq. He got home two months before I delivered twin boys on Nov 3rd 2005. In april 2006, we decided it was time to retire so we could bring up our boys and build our dream home in eastern Ky. We both are from Knott county ky. My husband is in the medical field ,so he got a job right away, this meaning we had to find some land fast if we wanted to start on our home. We had no such luck, nothing we found was anything that I had dreamed of. We finally decided if we found a house and land that we both liked that we would just go ahead and buy it ,since we needed a place fast. We found a house in Jeff Ky. We went through all the steps to purchase this home. It was an older like home so we hired an inspector from Lexington to do the inspection. We paid him 500.00 to do his job. The inspector said all was well, but maybe the roof would need replacing in a few years. We bought the home. A week after we moved in, My husband and I started finding problems. The floor by the fire place had sunken in from rotten wood. The laundery room started leaking water. The roof leaked ect. We contacted the inspecter but never heard back from him. We decided to do some remodling and here is where the story gets worse. We filled out a form online to find a good contractor. five companies were sent out to our home. but three never returned, one company wanted way too much money , so that left us with Windows and Sidings Unlimited from Littcarr Ky, formerly known as Black Diamond Construction. The owner Dewayne Stinnett gave us references, which my husband called everyone of them. All talked good about him and his work. We told Dewayne what we wanted done to make our home look like the house we had always wanted. He wrote down prices ect, but my husband had to do his own blue prints. We signed a contract in July 2006 and put down our first payment. Let me say, this was the worst bussiness mistake we had ever made. We probably saw Dewayne Stinnett a total of a week out of the first three months. This is when My husband started asking questions, Where was the crew? Finally , a few men here and there would show up,but never a crew. Two men started tearing down my place, then we started running into more house problems. More rooms were rotten and Termites were found. We had to change our house plans again, this time making bigger changes. We had to have one half our home torn down. This was now going into the winter. My babies and I kept cold all the time and we complained alot but this did not make the work go any faster. From October 2006, to April 2007, it was mainly a two man crew, sometimes,if we got lucky, maybe 3. After our basement was completed, it went weeks before anyone showed up. The rebuilding of our home had not even begun. In June 2007, almost a year after we signed our contract, the crew from Siding and Windows unlimited started to rebuild my home. At this time ,we are living in our master bedroom with a bathroom and temporary tiny kitchen. Snakes and Mice started invading my home. I found snakes crawling under my bed. Once again, I complained, letting the workers know how scared I was for my babies. My husband had a talk with Dewayne, but that was all it was, talk, because nothing was done. Once the plywood started going up,we thought maybe, we'll have a house soon, But NO, once again our workers would take a big break and no show. I decided to have me a talk with a few workers. Off the record, they told me that Windows and Sidings Unlimited had started building another house in March 2007 and that is where the crew was spending their time. That house was started and now is sitting incomplete just like mine. Once again ,Dewayne came back to us for more money. Finally, after my husband had already given him thousands of dollars, he just said NO. Dewayne decided to pull his crew from the job. We decided it was time for a new contract or our lawyer could handle it, so Dewayne agreed sign a new contract. It stated the house would be liviable by the end of October 2007. Contracts oviously mean nothing to this man and his company. He's broken the contract again, because it's going on a month and nobody has shown up to work. My septic tank is still broken and smelling from his bulldozer work back in July and our home is still sitting here unfinished, me and my babies are still cold and my husband and myself are so stressed out and angry.
I'm angry because my husband is a good man and he does not deserve to get screwed by these crooked people after serving his country for so many years. I'm not going to stand for it and neither is my husband. In the middle of Nov we consulted our lawyer. She said we first needed to talked to the DA so criminal charges could be filed and then we would do a civil suit. My husband talked to the DA and she said we needed to do the civil suit first. This thing went back and forth for a few weeks so we decided to go with the civil suit first. We hired a new crew to come in and finish our home , but the receipts will be kept so Sidings and Windows unlimited will be charged for all the unfinished work. This is when my story gets worse. Once the new crew gets in and starts working, they run into all kinds of problems made by sidings and windows unlimited. All the electric was done wrong, the plumbing was wrong and most of the unfinished wall were uneven. The crew leaded could not find anyone willing to come in and fix the messed up electric. What was suppose to be a four week project has now turned into a 9 week project and we are no closer to a finished house than we were nine weeks ago. My unfinished basement stays flooded and it has cost my husband all of our life savings and we are so indebt that it will take us years to recover from this. Me, my husband and two year old twin boys will have to keep living in the half built house because we have run out of money(March 2008), but hopefully justice will be served. We now have a better lawyer and I'm waiting for our day in court. I really get angry knowing my husband put his life on the line for his country and then he gets treated like this. It will take a long time for us to trust people again. One bad contractor like Dewayne Stinnett gives all good ones a bad name. I believe in Karma and I know Dewayne will get his.

O'Connor Builders out of Atco, NJ were horrible, and very unprofessional. They drank all the time on the job. Had subs that they used only because they had a plumbing license, but he was straight out of jail...asked for money several times before it was due to him. Had his subs ask for money, crying that they hadn't been paid for 2 weeks, the list just goes on and on. Don't use them, please.

I understand your frustration. I had similar experience with First General Services of Western MD. They were hired to repair my home after water damage and did such a bad job that it all has to redone. And yes we also got a 5 year warranty and not worth the paper it is written on.They advertise that all their work is done by professionals but they hired any one off the street that could pick up a hammer.BEWARE of First General Services.

Skyhigh Siding & Roofing, FL

Skyhigh was recommended by a neighbor. Our roof suffered damage from Hurricane Wilma and given the tiles are no longer available, it needs to be totally replaced. In December of 2008, we started working with our insurance company, an inspector and Skyhigh to asses costs and see what needed to be done.

From the beginning, Skyhigh reps were very pushy. They wanted us to sign things right away claiming such initial exchanges signified a proposal for work, and left anxious messages on the machine while the claim was in process. In addition, the contractor and rep came to our house without notifying us, waiting by the door with clipboard in hand. When we received the claim funds from the insurance company (Feb. 2009), the contractor was notified and told what the agreed price was--his tone indicated that he was not satisfied with the amount. We were then connected with someone at Skyhigh's office, who informed us that she would come by and pick up the "contract." We asked why (since they should have a copy already) and mentioned that it was not a contract, only a proposal. This set the employee off--with initial professionalism being supplanted by out-of-line rudeness. She engaged in inaccurate legal speak, relayed erroneous information about the paperwork, she called my wife a liar (about having spoken to her which she never did) , threatened to contact their 5 lawyers so that a lien could be put on our house. She claimed the contract (proposal) was an official notarized document. Not only was it not a contract, it did not indicate an agreed upon price nor was it notarized.

This person was rude and combative and resorted to bullying tactics that would have had the potential to render the less informed scared and vulnerable. All this after we had been ready to proceed with the job. We have since tried to connect with the contractor, but he did not return our calls.  They then sent us a threatening letter from a supposed lawyer (yet who was not a member of the Florida Bar Association) that basically said do business with us or face a cancellation fee OR we will take you to court.  We showed this letter to two lawyers who both said that it was laughable and looked like something used to cow less experienced homeowners into capitulating to Skyhigh's demands.

Frankly, these are fraudulent and strong arm tactics and are no way to conduct a business.  They have put us through quite a bit of stress and hardship for no good reason and had we not been better informed, we might have been convinced that we had no other choice.

I live in West county, Saint Louis. I hired J@M construction. They are just handmen wanted to do big remodeling. They delayed our kitchen remodeling, messed up the ceiling work, broke the basement ceiling which they refused to put it back. They refused to clean up, when we asked to do they were mentioning it is not in the contract. So I strongly advise to the new homeowners not to do the same mistake I did. Put everything in the contract including removing nail, take the box etc., Never sign a contract without a reference.

John Mack painted our house in October of 2008 and did a horrible job. He actually painted the exterior of the house while it was raining! The paint never dried properly and has mostly peeled up.
He told me again and again how he would mask our metal roof and windows. He didn’t do this and there is sprayed paint on everything, the roof, windows, door, ivy, and trees. His lazy crew couldn’t be bothered to move anything and they even spray painted over pots of herbs and lawn lights.
He said we wouldn’t owe anything until the job was finished, but he kept giving us hard luck stores about needing money to pay his crew and travel to South Carolina to see his family—unfortunately, we were suckered—we shouldn’t have given him a cent.
He kept asking to do walkthroughs with my wife and I, but basically used these as an exasperating way of winnowing his responsibilities to clean up after his sloppy work. Sometimes my wife was there, sometimes I was, and he got one person to agree to contradictions of earlier agreements.
Lastly, he told me he would leave me the excess premium paint, but he took this as well.
John Mack is charismatic and evokes Christian ideas, so you want to trust him, but in the end he did shoddy work for us, and left a terrible mess.

Anthony Kile of Little Rock Arkansas DBA: A.K. Maintenance & Home Repair. This guy talks a good line of B.S.. I got his name by recomendation of insurance agent after storm damage. He appears to know what he's doing in home repair and claims to have 15 years experience. He promises good quality work in sheetrock, painting, maintenance, and to cover all areas with plastic when blowing mud and painting. He would say I'll do this part for free, "you work with me and I'll work with you". When it came time to do the job. I had to constantly watch them, they didn't cover area's like promised, I would have to go room to room and watch, then say "you need to cover the entertainment center, bed, couch, or whatever before they would cover it. I ended up with mud sprayed all over my TV, DVD player, DVD's and lots more items. He said "it's only mud, it'll wipe right off". Yet he didn't clean it up. It took three weeks to do two weeks of work. By the end I had mud also sprayed all over the kitchen cabinets, refregiator, and floor. Which it damaged the kitchen floor and now you can see all the marks left after clean up. I have paint drips in the floor of every room. Paint splaters on doors and walls. You can see every seam in the sheetrock he put up. He didn't caulk the bathrooms as promised. He damaged the toilet lids and tub edges by using them and step stools. He also damaged the bathtub by puncturing a hole in it with the cornor of a board he was using as a step. The last day he was there, they were to finish everything that day. He got the check and left two men to finish up. When the two left, they said that they would have to come back tomarrow and finish the spot in the living room and put a second coat on the bathroom door because what was there would have to dry before they could recoat. Well they didn't show up the next day, and when I called Anthony Kile he would hang up on me or not answer. Finally I called his insurance agent to file a complaint and I was told that he no longer had insurance, he had canceled it months ago. So, he lied to me about having insurance. The insurance called him about my complaint, only then did he return my call. He told me that there was nothing else he was going to do and that I had the paint I could do it myself. So that also means he lied about the one year warrenty on his workmanship. He told me of others that would hold out money in the end or they were unreasonable. I found out that all those other people were right, he's the one not to be trusted. His quality of work is very poor, his short cuts he calls tricks of the trade only lowers the quality of work he does. The things he adds in as "free", once he gets the job he'll tell you, "that's going to take longer or that's harder than expected, and since I'm not charging you anyway, I'm just not going to do it. Where, as a consumer you look at the total job and total cost. Then you're left with things undone. Don't trust anything he says, he'll lie to get the job. He may quote you a lower price then another contractor, but as always, you get what you pay for. Low cost, low quality. It's not worth it. Pay the extra, working with this guy it like working with a kid. You have to make sure he's doing what he said he'd do, and it takes three days of saying "do this" before its done if it gets done. You end up with a bad quality of workmanship you have to look at every day and sleepless nights of wasted money.

I recently hired Nerick Rylee of KAN Foundations from Georgia - he walked half way through my project and left me with an incomplete foundation. We seemed to have a great relationship, then he walked and simply refuses to return my calls, emails, letters. I was taking a chance on hiring him, he is from Georgia and I'm in Texas, however his references were impecable and he seemed like a real straight shooter. Be careful using him. Oh, the work he did complete was dimensionally accurate but the appearance of the concrete work was the roughest I've experienced.

I would in no way recommend you use a company called Affordable Home Improvements & Construction also doing business as Addmore Home improvements run by John Burlie, John Burlie Sr., and Tammy mcQuinn of Campbellford, Ontario. John Jr. is not honest he deliberatly gave us wrong information when putting a new steel roof, gutters and 'Gutter Topper' on our house. He told us he was a distributor for 'Gutter Toppers' when he was NOT. We were happy until it rained and it was like niagra falls at the corners of our house. It was so bad that it is eroding the soil away from the house. When we got fedup with calling Mr. Burlie we call 'Gutter Toppers'. So far we have had no joy in getting them to help us. But the debate is out on them I will let you know how that goes. So BEWARE OF JOHN BURLIE, JOHN BURLIE SR. & TAMMY MCQUINN

O'CONNOR BUILDERS INC ATCO NJ. DENNIS O'CONNOR.. WOW where to start with them. We did everything possible in 2007 to make sure we were getting a contractor that would do the job and do it right. We looked him up on everythign possible before we hired him so now we are sitting here over a year aftrer they started with a totally unfinished Upstaires. They were to do a top addition of the home. It is a cape cod and they were blowing out the top. Crazy to think this can happen but it did. They took most of the money and never cam back. We only had a small portion to pay. They did TERRIBLE work and needs to be fixed plus they used plumber and electrican that were not on the contract. I wish I could go thru the details of everything that is wrong but it would just bring back all these bad thoughts. Just know that they ruined our lives and our two poor kids don't have a room. One stays in his playroom that is not that big to begin with and my daughter that should of had a room totally done before she was born is sleeping in a pack and play... I wish I could turn back the clock and realize what had happened but I can't.. i just sit here to live out of boxes totes and our gargage and wonder if we will see any of our money back.... !!!!

I've had a bad contractor also. His name is Jeff Fank and he's from Lemont, Illinois. He totally ripped me off tens of thousands of dollars. Never finished the job and took off with my hard earned money. If anyone out there had the same problem with this contractor, please respond. I'd really like to talk with you.

As other people in this forum have pointed out: DO NOT USE O'CONNOR BUILDERS. The owner DENNIS O'CONNOR is not honest and normally drunk.

They will take too long, lie about the scope of work, and fail to honor their guarantee.

The BBB has them as an F so obviously avoid them. If you want more details email me at oconnorbuilderssuck@gmail.com thanks!

I just found this site...and I saw the comment about O"Connor Builders in Atco NJ. I couldnt' agree more. Stay away from Dennis O'Connor. We signed a contract with him...he started late, never finished, were very unprofessional, drank all day on the job, if they did show up they never arrived until 11 AM or later, left messes and never cleaned up. They left piles and piles of debris in our yard for months! Did not follow the drawings and had to redo many things. Came without tools and supplies all the time. Noone had a vehicle so they had to carpool all the time. THey started the job mid winter and then disappeared for three months...no phone calls, emails, etc...THey did not finish their contract with us and now we are forced to sue. We are aware of at least two other people he has screwed...and supposedly there are more. He makes a business of ripping people off. Run from him and his company.

folks, i'm not even joking when i say that you need to beware big time of Tony Tarantella of By Design (or ByDesign) General Contracting. This guy befriended us and promised us the best renovation, hassle free. we got anything but...what was supposed to cost $140,000 ended up costing over half a million after all the terrible work tony did had to be fixed. tony alone got $240.00+ from me because he kept promising the work would get done and that he just needed a little more to do it right.

his work ethic is pathetic. he rarely shows up for the job and he leaves his workers (mostly ex cons) to supervise themselves. after all this, he has the balls to say he doesn't work for anyone and that he can do whatever he wants.

i know you're thinking why would you keep this guy on your payroll. i live in toronto, canada. it was november 2009 and my 160 year old victorian house was wide open to the elements. tony promised his reno would be complete by september 2009.

it is now may 2010 and while i have become my own general contractor i have been able to get my house done in less than 3 solid months or working full time and doing the house at night or weekends.

in 10 months tony could not even get the outside walls complete. the final straw occurred when he started billing for his overhead costs including his the gas used to come to my house.

i think it's important for people to realize that this man is a horrible person, a shitty contractor and knows nothing about construction. he did not even do the job right and i had to hire other contractors to come in and tear out his work that violated building code and fire code!! to make things better.

i hope that karma gets this person but in the meantime i am hoping my words will warn others.

please do not hesitate in contacting me for more information.

tony is now operating a company from his home at 304 lodor avenue, ancaster, on 416-678-2788 or 416-519-7613 or 416-678-3738.

BEWARE!!!!!!!

Here's some follow up on an earlier posting:
Vincent Cavaleri of Brookhaven, NY worked illegally for four years without a license. Homefix corporation is the kind of company that should be shut down. The sales guy, Tom Gabbert, is an out and out liar. Their installation of my sliding glass door was a joke - 3/4 globs of caulk, cracked molding. They left my house a mess. They ordered the wrong door so now my main entrance door does not have a key entry from the outside (so it is no longer usable as an enrty door). It has been 3 weeks since installation and I have been fighting with them everyday to make it right. They are dishonest, poor quality, poor workmanship and have no regard for the customer's time or degree of inconvenience. Stay away from these guys.

Tony Tarantella from various companies (all of which have opened or shut down in the past 9 months - that's gotta tell you something!!). The companies include:

BY DESIGN GENERAL CONTRACTING INC OR LTD.
WATERPROOFING EXPERTS
TARCON CUSTOM HOMES
TARCON WATERPROOFING. All companies have the address of 304 Lodor Avenue, Ancaster, Ontario or 10 Caswell Avenue, Hamilton ON. Tony has about 10 phone numbers including 416-678-2788, 905- 515-8238, 416-519-7613. I don't know why any "good" contractor would need to change addresses so many times. I have no idea how any decent contractor who wants calls based on good word of mouth needs to change names of companies and get so many phone numbers. i have no idea how this person sleeps at night.

I am in the midst of a dream and nightmare with them i want to know of any others with the same experience as i am a month without a home, subcontractors were terrible most anyway with some exceptions. floors have slopes, walls and ceilings have ripples, tiles had to be redone, electrician can not get anything right and they take their sweet time while my kids and i suffer. supervising contractor has too many conflicts of interest to stay on job, family home life etc, lets workers work unattended and therefore they screw up.

First General Services of Western MD. Owner Randy George did what he called "a restoration" on an old house I purchased that had water damage. They used flat paint over the oil base enamel paint so of course most of it has peeled off in sheets now. They charged to remove all the trim and refinish it but instead painted over some of it again with flat paintand left some the way it was. When painting the walls and doors they painted over the hinges and wall sockets as well as the window hardware. Many other things, too many to put it all down on paper. It is my understanding that he has left that company so if you are hiring anyone check them out and if they have RANDY GEORGE do not hire them.

NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH 3CM STONE in Tualatin ORegon!!! The communication was inconsistent and they did not offer good recommendations for installation and product. They broke the slab intended for my job and wanted to offer us something else that did remotely match the slab we iniatially ordered. They inproperly installed our shower bench and made alternations to fix it which ruined the look and edge of the marble. They wanted to charge us extra for trip charges related to their mistakes. They fought with our contractor and yelled profanities at my husband and myself when we said we were disatisfied with their workmanship. Holy unprofessional and now they want to put a lien on my home! Only one word matches their behavior = UNETHICAL.

Don't even consider hiring 3CM Stone in Tualatin, Oregon as a granite installer. They miscommunicate about almost everything, broke a slab intended for our job and insisted on subsituting another type of marble that didn't match, they don't understand design and how to avoid installation mistakes with setting a shower bench at an graduated angle to prevent damage from water drainage pooling into the corner of my shower. They fought with my contractor over personal matters unrelated to my job as their friendship deteriorated so did their interest in my job. They won't come look at the result of the added measures they took to create a channel to have the water not pool in the corner wherein the ruined the edge and structure and look of my marble bench. They don't care when I brought it to their attention and said "What do you want from us?". They plan on putting a lien on my home for my complaint of under $500 as they would rather fight than satisfactorily do their job after they originally offer (in jest) to tear out everything and replace it all! They are not honest and yell profanities without letting the other contractual party get a word in edgewise. Only one word for this contractor - UNETHICAL.

Premiere Restoration and Remodeling in The Birmingham, AL area is the worst excuse for a contractor I have ever heard of. They make promises and don't keep them. They go for weeks without doing any work and then when I asked why they wanted more money. Over the months work ground to a halt and they still wanted more money. They were not building according to our plan, but rather were slipping cheap substitute items. Finally I dumped them, but they owe us lots of money.

In my estimation, about 50% of contractors are passable, 35% outright suck, 10% are ok 5% are good. There’s one guy that’s excellent. It’s a crap shoot stacked against the homeowner.

Now, in retrospect, it seems absurd that I would buy a fixerupper. Though a good friend advised against this, I bought it anyway. And so over the years I have witnessed the slow parade of contractors, dozens have come and gone. I have come to realize that given the plethora of predators, they are most like the Hyena. A swift moving Cheetah will quickly snap a neck or constrict air flow. Painful perhaps, but quick, and in a way merciful. The Hyena, on the other hand, moving in packs, will slowly rip its prey apart. Tearing sinew from bone, in slow fashion, they remove the fabric of life bit by bit – a series of small agonizing deaths. The contractor, like the Hyena, yelp and laugh among themselves - inside jokes of hidden fees extolled to the unwary. You cannot escape anymore, the wound is too deep. And when they are through, you will muster an exasperated, “This is not what I asked for.” No matter, you will have been picked clean – the wallet from your pocket, and the soul from its disheveled abode.

Whatever you do, please do not, under any condition hire Craig Rae from CMR Contracting or Ceara Kitchens. He left the job unfinished and most of what he did finish was a mess. I made the mistake of paying him before completion and that I regret. One day the sign he put on our lawn was gone! He will not return calls and/or emails. He said his specialty was kitchen cabinets, but as it turns out they are crooked. Steer clear of this guy...unless you want substandard work.

Do not hire Brad Wimett from Oneida, NY to do your window installation!!!!

1/22/11 Brad Wimett, owner of Clear Choice Home Improvement in the Syracuse, NY area came to my home to install windows and door. Brad was unable to complete the job in one day, and informed me he would return the following day to complete the installation. I had to go out of town to visit a sick relative and paid him in full for the job (VERY stupid of me!).

Brad never returned to complete the work, and after inspecting the unfinished job I discovered numerous issues listed below:

Power in house was out (fuse was blown).
Screen door to slider missing.
Upstairs Right window cracked.
Upstairs interior molding chipped, mangled, and misaligned.
Picture window not properly installed (placed on rotten sill). Large gaps leaving access to outside (allowing bugs, wind, and precipitation to enter master bedroom). Large cracks in drywall under upstairs windows.
Upstairs window installation not completed (3). Upstairs windows not insulated or wrapped with exterior coil/trim.
Sliding door leaks and rain enters living room.
Old materials not fully removed or disposed of (scraps, shavings, and screws all over yard and deck; screens left for my disposal).
Exterior siding chipped and cracked.
Large gaps in downstairs interior molding.
Exterior windows and door not caulked.
Unknown damage to home from rain and moisture behind walls, entering through upstairs windows.

I have attempted to contact Brad via telephone and U.S. mail on numerous occasions to rectify the situation, however, he refuses to return my calls or compensate me appropriately.

I now have to hire another contractor to complete the window installation and to repair the damage caused by Brad Wimett.

The Contractor - John Paul - Is not very professional - He told Us to tell Him what We would like to have trimmed and He would trim it - After We pointed out what We wanted trimmed He said he would do it - When He finished painting the house and started the trim - He argued for more than an hour about what trim was and told Us He would not trim the things we pointed out for trimming
The Contractor - John Paul - Is not very professional - I pointed out That what He did to Our Chimney did not look right and He went into a tantrum about His Work and His 35 years of experience and before I knew it He had disappeared - I found Him down the street arguing with Himself - I had to literally call Him back and ask Him if He was going to go back to work
The Contractor - John Paul - Is not very professional - I pointed out that the roof He finished leaked after it had rained - He argued with Me for a half hour telling Me about His 35 years of experience - And said the roof cannot be leaking - He pointed out the work He did and kept insisting the roof cannot be leaking - He asked me to tell Him how it could be leaking
The Contractor - John Paul - Is not very professional - He kept arguing with Me and telling Me what He was not going to do - hence the trim etc... - This arguing could go on for a half hour to about an hour - I had to keep reminding Him That I was the paying customer - And He will do the work I Contracted Him for
The Contractor - John Paul - Is not very professional - He did not reattached the wiring He unattached around the house to the wall after He painted - He did not reattach the fuse box back to the wall after He painted - He left it lying on the ground - He left scrap roofing on the roof - After putting in the brand new roof John Paul left a large oil spill on the roof from His machinery - He stood on our hot tub and We told Him "Do you realize all you are standing on is Styrofoam" - Which the hot tub lid inserts are composed of
The Contractor - John Paul - As the job neared the finishing point - We more than once reminded John Paul that these things that I have pointed out have to be addressed - His answer to Us was He would finish them off when He came back to do the electrical work He was going to do for Us
The Contractor - John Paul - We did not think to check the lid to the Hot Tub until We paid Him for His work and He left with the understanding that He would be back to do the electrical work and finish off the rest of the outstanding issues - Once He was paid and gone - I went to put the chemicals in the Hot Tub the next day and the Styrofoam insert gave - I realize that is our bad
The Contractor - John Paul - Is not very professional - We called Him on the days He said He would be back to do the electrical and finish off the outstanding issues along with - And His answer to Us was He will not do our electrical work and He will not be back to finish off the outstanding issues from the original contract

I would advise EVERYONE, especially those who are applying for an RRAP Homeowners grant to stay AWAY from Gary Levis's JNL Reno and Repair LTD, located in Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada! He abandonned the job after the drywall ceilings he installed started cracking. Not small cracks either. His crew came in three times to repair the cracks, leaving my ceilings with humps from too much drywall mud to hide the cracks in the joints, also some areas were over sanded leaving deep grooves. He was supposed to update the electrical for $4600 and all he did was change out approx. 38 light switches and plug outlets. His workers left a shop lamp on that they pushed under my dining room table when they went for lunch. Luckily I was home and started smelling burning plastic within 5 mins of them leaving and went to investigate to find the hose on their shop vacuum melted into a thin string. If I hadn't been home, I have no doubt a fire would have started, burning down my entire home within the hour lunch they took. The workers also smeared dry wall mud 2 to 5 inches down the existing wall panel leaving my home in a huge mess. His "fix" for the cracked ceilings was a plan to install ceiling panel...I was happy with that until I saw a load of grooved wall panel in the back of his trailer and I told him straight out that there was no FN way in hell he was going to install grooved wall panel on my ceilings. It was an absolute nightmare. Now I gotta go through arbitration to try to find a way to fix the messes he left me with.

Do NOT hire Joe Samelak/Surface Masters in NW Indiana!!! He came in to tile our kitchen and bathroom floors, replace the vanities/toilets/countertops and replace the shower/tubs, as well as paint. He gave us a timeline of a week. Three weeks later he still wasn't done, and then all of a sudden didn't show up, wouldn't answer calls, emails, or texts. He left our house TRASHED - we cleaned and filled our entire 2-car garage with the trash he had left in the house.

On further inspection, his work had to be completely redone. All the tile had to be removed and replaced, the hardibacker boards he had us buy and said he used under the tile he actually STOLE - they weren't under the tiles when they took them out, and we don't have them anywhere. He completely ruined our new shower, we have to take all the tiles around it out, unscrew the walls, take the bottom out and fix a pipe he broke under there (which we pointed out to him and he said he could fix it through the drain hole) He scratched all of our brand new fixtures/sinks/vanities. He didn't finish a single thing, and the things he did do we have to spend over $3,000 fixing. We are now a month past when he said he would finish, thousands in the hole, trying to salvage as much as we can. He is the biggest scammer, and can't do anything he advertises correctly. When our new contractors/plumbers came in, they were shocked at how awful a job he did at EVERYTHING he touched. PLEASE don't hire him!

Do not hire Hafer Construction, out of Hamilton Virginia. After a 5 week kitchen remodel turned into 6 months, the contractor walked off the job with the job 98% complete, after receiving almost all of the money for the job. We're now looking for help so we can get our kitchen back. Turned a dream kitchen into a nightmare. Oh, did I mention that the contractor left for a 3 week vacation to Germany while we were waiting for appliances?

I would never recommend Nathan Fuller of Northeast Remodeling in NH. That scumbag has left us with thousands in repairs!

Acts like butter can't melt in his mouth, lives with his parents and has a showroom which is stolen stuff from peoples jobs. Most probably have claims against him. Don't trust this guy!

I would NOT recommend Rick Tacy to do work for anyone. He will say I will take care of it don't worry. He just keeps putting you off not sure now if I could even make him pay for the work that he did wrong. I have a roof that is leaking at several places also I paid big bucks just for that work. Have contacted his wife she will not get back with me if she knows I am calling her. Both are smooth talkers. BEWARE.

Stay clear of Acorn Tree Service out of Carver Massachusetts!!! The "owner" is John Zellars. Took the money and ran. Was over a month before he/they came back to do any work and that was only after threatening them with calling the police and legal action. Then they went on to destroy our property by letting trees fall as they may and then trying to cover up damages. asks to be paid in cash. gives you one price and then states needs more money to complete the job once you are lucky enough to get them to start it. Machinery always breaking down leading to even more delays. Machines leaking oil and other fluids onto property causing pollution and damage. I would never recommend this person or this company to anyone and would advise them in fact to stay as far away as possible.

AVOID at all cost John Zellars and his "company" Acorn Tree Service. He did work in my yard removing trees and did more damage to my property than he did removing trees. He skims you along for weeks if not months of promises. Wants his money up front first and usually wants to be paid in cash. She damaged grounds, fences and his price always goes up as he gives you a sob story about how his family is living day to day. Once out of Carver Massachusetts I now hear that he has moved to Mashpee Massachusetts. Do not and I repeat do not get swindled as we did by this contractor who hardly ever showed up, did not finish work, destroyed property and was always looking for extra money. Find a reputable company and have peace of mind!!!

Northeast Remodeling is a fantastic company. They have a great showroom in Epping full of products given to them by product representatives. The company is a BBB accredited company with an A+ rating. Any bad reviews of this company can only be found on sites that do not varify the information. You will find that Julie and Neil Mortlock of 5 Witley in Exeter,NH are the only people that have tried to badmouth Northeast Remodeling. They will only post as anonamus because they are cowards and have nothing to stand on. That's why no legitimate services like the BBB have negative complaints. You will never find a ligitemate complait from someone that post thier actual name and proof of a job done by Northeast.

Avoid this florida based contactor at all costs, he swindled us out of thousands and never completed his work. Basically a thief and a washed up contractor trying to make a name for himself again- living off of his clients monies that we dedicated to construction projects. We lost over 10k.

His remodel work is a joke, he charged us 5800.00 for a new roof and all we got in return was a patched roof that still leaks. he also left rotted roof joists in place when we were told they would be completely replaced. He simply mopped on a sealer and left us with it. The house was for my children so he stole from them as well. One of my sons is heart patient so he cannot afford the costs. Now we must re-repair- replace the roof.

NO VALID EXPLINATION OF CHARGES and yet he charged us thousands for them. This guy is complete liar in every sense of the word and set our projects back 6 months.

We immediately cancelled a 1.2 million dollar new construction job with him as a result. Not to be trusted with clients funds!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. HIS OFFICE IS HIS PICK UP TRUCK, AND A P.O. BOX. NOTHING MORE.WESBSITE IS ALSO A COMPLETE FARSE- HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WIT IT- JUST USING PHOTOS AND CALLING THEM HIS OWN WORK.
A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FRAUD IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Alabama, Georgia area:::

I hired JEFF RICHARDSON (a crew of 3 total.) His work was obviously sub par.

I hired him to remodel my house. At this point I have paid him approximately $34,000, owing only $2,500. I just wanted to warn you all about this man.

I would not pay him the rest of the money until he had tied up some loose ends, and he never came back.

Let alone not finishing the job (and taking advantage of me, my child, and my 77 year old mother) he took things from the house that didn't belong to him!

Overview: There are hanging wires everywhere! Holes in the wall. Paint everywhere on the floors. Chipped and cracked bricks. An nonfunctional gas log fireplace (that was the first thing he started on.) Paint stripes everywhere. Cracking molding. Unfinished new bathroom. An untouched old bathroom. Trash, wood, etc ALL laying in my driveway. Broken gutter. Hanging outlets. They didn't put the driveway lights in correctly. They were constantly late, when they decided to show up. Our air ducts have no vents.

So just to warn everyone about this "contractor." I would not suggest to hire JEFF RICHARDSON! He is from Leesburg, Alabama and, in my experience, will not do the job and leave with you're money with no work done.

I had an addition put on my home by R&L Builders in Milford, PA. There are 2 R&Ls here, the one I used was owned by a man named Richy Koslower (He spells his name a few different ways, so be careful) He took way longer to finish than quoted, constantly claimed to be out of money and had to get payments early. My new addition already has a leaky roof (4 months later) Among so many other problems I have had from him. I had an estimate done on the damages he caused to my home, and it totaled $15,000. He stole the check I gave him for the surveyor, who never got paid, he did such half assed shoddy work, everything is falling apart. My house is a mess, the new windows all leak, he left garbage from other job sites at my home. He painted without covering my floors which are warped and stained now. Then to top it off, when I tried to question him on the work, he pushed me. This man can not be trusted, he does terrible work, everyone I have talked to since having it done, that knows him, has said the same. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN.

My name is Jeffrey Fank, I recently found out that I was listed on this blog as a bad contractor. I would like to set the record straight. I have been contracting in the Chicago area for over 27 years and have designed and built hundreds and hundreds of projects for satisfied customers. The poolhouse99 person ( Steve and Sue)that put me on here actually defaulted on the contract we entered into. Sue drafted the contract that I signed, so I was actually their subcontractor. The pool company they hired to install the pool after we excavated and poured the foundation, drove their trucks to close to the foundation and collapsed about 20' of concrete foundation. This cost about $12,000.00 to fix which Steve and Sue were supposed to pay for but they never did pay for this. They also had my company build out extra work for a total of $7,500.00 which they again did not pay for. We also poured concrete around the pool which they were to pay us $10,000.00 when we poured it. Again Steve and Sue did not pay, that's $$27,500.00 they defaulted on. My attorney sent them a demand for payment letter and stated we would not return until they caught up on the payments per the contract, which they never did. Sue sent 4 complaints to the States Attorney General and all were rejected as false complaints. These people have posted false information about me and my company on many websites and have opened many email accounts so they can pretend they are different unhappy customers. The truth is they claim that I stole $500,000.00 from them, but the contract was about $200,000.00 and their project was about 80% complete. They never hired an attorney or tried to take me to court. They claim I disappeared, bu I have lived in the same house for 12 years, they know where I live, I chased Steve off my property with my Rottweiler, after they dumped garbage in my driveway, I have the police report, they left a permit inspection sticker in the trash they dumped (not to bright) These people make a lot of false accusations. I have a customer satisfaction rate over 98% over 27 years. you can view some of my work at chicagocreativedecks.com
P.S. which they claim is my house, all 200 projects? Thank you Jeffrey Fank

Well, my only advice for contractors out there is to do their job the best they can. The goal of the business is to provide customer satisfaction. With that, you can gain even more loyal customers in the long run. But it's important to establish a strong foundation of loyal customers first, and you do that by providing excellent services.

Eric Davis Contracting & Remodeling in Easton PA is the WORST. This guy uses all subs, he has no idea what he is doing. Half the time, the subs never show up, they do sub-standard work and this guy says they are "professional". To top if all off, there is more damage then repairs, and finally his work did not past town inspection code. The inspector laughed when he saw this guys work. Davis Contracting felt he should be paid for substandard work that did not pass inspection. Lastly, he is not a man of his word. His advertising is false. He does not offer what he advertises. RUN FROM THIS GUY

Golden Environmental Services as mentioned by the peron above is very unethical.
Ron Trivett pretends to be sincere, caring and responsible individual who also claims to have strong christian values.
If he is doing remediation work for you he will make promises with disclaimers about cost that always are double and tripple later.
His own son Chad could not work for him and said Ron would invoice for jobs on his jobsite that had not even been priced from real costs yet. Ron would just send wild invoices out hoping to get paid.
Ron has also found ways to dishonour deals and written contracts with a wide variety of people including his son, who is an ordaned minister. Ron's son was lied to about his deal in the company and didn't get what he was promised for all his hard work.
Most insurance companies Ron has worked for throw him off the job after a while or never give him one again after being taken to the cleaners.
Make sure if you are going to use Ron Trivett or Golden Environmental Services for anything that you hold back on your dollars and pay for results only. In addition ask for referances from insurance companies he has done work for over the last 5 or more years. I don't think he can give you anyones name that is still happy with him for 5 or more years. Considering how long Ron claims to have been in this industry for a long time.
The truth is Ron Trivett was Golden Cleaning services years ago cleaning carpets and found out that there was a great cash opportunity in remediation and easy to take your dollars for doing very little. Ron never really made it in business and now struggles as a senior who is approximately 68 years old desperately trying to get rich quick before he can't work any longer.
BE WARE!

I feel I should warn the public about a contractor that who claims to beable to make any repair but represents himself as a hardwood installer and refinisher. His name is Paul Houser of Houser Hardwood. The floors he installed in my house have spaces and gaps, completly uneven like he took random wood and tried to piece it together. The finish was covered in bubbles and smudges. This guy actually gave me the creeps so when he was done I couldn't wait for him to leave. This guy claims to do top notch work. Do not for any reason hire this guy, your better off hireing the next guy with a one star rateing. Bad contractor.

Let me start with the bottom line. With the help of Bella Cucina I have one of the most beautiful kitchens in NJ. The issue is that this process was completed despite their input rather than because of it.

I came to Bella Cucina with a very clear idea of the kitchen that I wanted. They seemed friendly enough and willing to work with me to realize my vision. Luigi has very strong design ideas which in general lean towards a "more flamboyant style" than I care for. He wanted very much to assert his design taste even though I clearly knew what I wanted but we managed to work around that until he was already weeks late in building my cabinets only to come to me and try to convince me to choose a different patter for my cabinets because he was already producing them for another client and he only wanted to produce the one style. Suddenly the style that I had chosen and he had previously said was "such good taste" was in his words "cheap looking" and "if you go with this other design it will look much classier". Again more garish and not to my taste not to mention the fact that my order went in first and was delayed in order to service another client first.

The entire experience seems to be a question of who's order is the largest. at $26,000 I realize that my kitchen was no big ticket for Bella Cucina but it was a HUGE investment for me, the single largest ticket item in my home renovation and I expected to be treated with the same courtesy and consideration as any other client. We were constantly being told that his workers were busy on other projects and were put off for weeks that stretched into months in order to complete our kitchen.

Shortly after the kitchen was done some issues came up. Some screws in the hinges of the "custom built" cabinets were coming loose. One lower cabinet had not been constructed as we were led to believe and took another month for them to find the time to fix it. Once it was completed we realized that the installer had practically drilled screws through the exterior of the cabinet. Also the wood surround at the sink cracked. It took three weeks to get Luigi to come over and take a look at it. Once he did he made it clear that they were very busy and that we needed to be patient. It has been 2 months since his visit and all I get is a run around on the phone. He has personally stopped taking my calls and one of his factory workers has been kind enough to make weekly excuses for him but its becoming clear that he has no intention of fixing issues that are clearly instillation errors.

The last few times that I heard from Luigi it was because he wanted information from me (that he utilized) for contractors to do floor work and even a mortgage banker which I had offered up to him. He had no trouble taking the information that would help him but offered no reciprocal help in finishing up my kitchen instillation.

When Luigi came to reconcile the outstanding balance on the kitchen the bill took me by surprise. There were a number of fine touches that, because the kitchen had taken so long to install I had been given the idea that he was going to do gratis. His words "I'ma gonna do this for you" NEVER mentioning any additional charges until the day of reckoning when he padded the bill by a significant amount and clearly itemized the touches that he had earlier offered.

If you work with Bella Cucina know that there is no "Forman" its just Luigi who comes by every so often (mostly looking for installment checks) to see how the work is progressing but there is no one on a daily or even weekly basis to see oversee and coordinate the efforts of the subcontractors that he employ's. I was able to be hands on in my renovation and was amazed at how frequently workers showed up having know idea what they were supposed to do or having been given the wrong information about what was to take place.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Please feel free to chime in.

Derek A. Fecteau charged me for the most traumatic bloody experience for my family including my children who are scarred by it. He was supposed to finish two bathrooms in less then ten days with his crew of four plus workers. He started the job great and Really clean. But his crew began to feature high school kids of which one was his nephew that I heard him beat up in my bathroom. His nephew who is 16 had a huge cut on his elbow which I had to tend to since I am a RN. I tried to ask the boy what happened and he appeared in fear and kept saying he feel on his own. I know what I heard and it went on for two different times for about a minute with yelling and banging sounds. I didn't get the kids name and if I called the police he would deny it. Later, Derek Fecteau told me how he never puts his cash in the bank because he owes over 20, 000 in child support. I was speechless and because he was paid most of the labor money, I choose to not offer my opinion. Over the course of almost four weeks of being in my home, he hardly worked. He came in for about twenty minutes while he promised to pay his pals $8 &$10 per hour. He paid his friend Joey $200 and the same for John. Derek was paid thousands and cheated his workers which are as he calls his great friends. He had verbally yelled at John on my front lawn in front of my neighbors and the fired him in order to not pay the $700 he owed him. Derek also made excuses to not show up for work...my babysitter didn't show, my car engine broke, and I have an ulcer which required tons of dr/ hospital visit excuses. The last week was torture. He never showed until wednesday which was the day he fired John, marched up stairs and touched the electrical to fix the light in my bathroom. He electrocuted himself, fell off the ladder and had a five minute seizure. I was called to help from his 16yr old friend that he allows to sleep with his 18year old niece. I ran upstairs and he was on his back with a mouth full off blood. In order to save him, I quickly turned him to his side. When his mouth was cleared, he started to breathe again. After the seizing, he became combative and began to throw punches my husband and I. We kept trying to stop him from leaving the bathroom because he would fall from the stairs. Twenty mins later Derek A Fecteau had blood all over my tiles and floor. He also urinated on my floor. When the EMS came he laid all of his blood and urine body on my carpet just outside the bathroom. After they left, I had a blood bath to deal with. It took over two hours to clean it. When Derek got out of the hospital, he came over the next morning for about an hour of pretend work and he grabbed all his tools which he normally left at my home. Needless to say, aftet saving this cheating idiot's life, he abandoned our job. Here's how I found out, I called him the next day after he told me it was safe to shower. The shower never drained and the next morning my ceiling under the bathroom was leaking and pealed almost in half. Derek Fecteau never answered our calls. We need another contactor, this time we hired a home inspector. Turns out all the floors in the shower have to be demolished again in order to gain access to the plumbing that Derek installed the wrong way. Turns out he did this in both of my bathrooms and its going to cost us a ton to have his mistakes fixed.

Beware of William Dyer in Texas, Galveston County area. He took 132,000.00 cash money to just paint and repair a den. What was supposed to take six months, took 2 years. In the meantime he stripped my home of everything and left me holding the bag. Even though it took a grand jury only five minutes to indict him, a new D.A. in office would not give me permission to take the case to trial. Galveston court system has thrown out a lot of cases like mine because they let many many cases pile up over a long period of time and are way behind. They actually lost my files that contained pictures, film, receipts, statements from professional witnesses 4 times and they all laughed about it.

I would like to introduce king kongtracting construction and services company located at Richmond Hill Toronto as an awful, irresponsible and careless services provider, this winter we had an agreement with this contractor to remove snow from our parking way, whenever snow were falling, it was an issue even after two or more call and contact with king kongtracting to convince them to come over to do their job which was simply removing the snow from parking area, it seemed you are wasting your time and finally you were frustrating . I just want to give an idea for next winter. Beware, prevent and don’t sign with this contractor, as they do nothing for you and you are finally losing your money

Here's a video walkthrough of the abandoned job of Outdoor Excellence, LLC in Columbia, SC. http://youtu.be/KOb_I71efM8

The owner's name is Brandon Walsh. The company is a landscaping and stone masonry service, but he claimed to know how to do bathroom renovations.

Brandon was unreachable by phone or text for weeks once he started. When we realized he hardly knew what he was doing and the tile work was terrible, we fired him and asked for our money back. He refused and told us to take it to court.

Please view our video with our new professional bonded and insured contractor walking through our bathroom and pointing out the problems with Outdoor Excellence's bathroom renovation.

3CM Stone and owner Mark Cheminto have a well earned poor reputation. They do not work well with customers and their reviews on the Better Business Bureau are evident of this. They fail in having the client view the templates of their jobs and sign off on them to prevent mistakes and then charge extra trip charges to the clients to try to remedy their errors. Their quality of workmanship is substandard. If you try to resolve an issue with Mark Cheminto he gets verbally abusive using profanities and name calling and he is quite intimidating. We felt threatened physically as well. They staff were also retaliatory and this is represented in the comments through the BBB and they used verbal and physical jestures. Who does business like this????? Don't they realize the power of the internet and reviews. The negative reviews are real and I not sure to say whether the positive ones are. Don't take your chances doing business with someone like this as countertops are one of the most expensive parts of a job. He is unrelenting with his threats if you say you are unsatisified or if there is a miscommunication leading to them not doing their job correctly. Literally, I am stated my comments in a refained way as I want to be TOTALLY creditable. 3CM Stone is worse than the above comments.

Hello All,

I wanted to take a minute and share a story about an awful contractor in the Chicagoland area. He has been running various scams since the mid-90’s. He doesn’t finish jobs, steals from clients, doesn’t pay his hard-working subcontractors, and then files for bankruptcy. There are multiple websites, blogs, and individuals that will attest to this behavior. This scam has been going on since the mid 90’s, and has to stop. For more details on this man, please visit the following website: https://stopjefffank.blogspot.com/.
